Correct mounting of your solar panels is important to maximize production, provide proper directional and latitudinal orientation, and to provide the stability needed to protect your investment from the force of the wind. Which solar panel mounts and racking are best for your application will depend on where you are installing your solar array; on your roof, the ground, or on a pole.
A solar tracker is a device for orienting a solar panel or solar array toward the sun. A solar tracker increases morning and afternoon exposure, which can substantially improve the amount of power produced by your system. Solar trackers are beneficial for concentrated solar electric systems, and with non-concentrating solar arrays in regions that primarily offer direct sunlight. In diffuse light (i.e. under clouds or fog), solar tracking has no value when used with non-concentrating solar arrays.
